If you’ve been holding your breath waiting to find out when and where the next BlizzCon would be held, then… you’ve probably passed out by now. But if you’ve just been patiently watching for an announcement, then we’ve got good news for you: BlizzCon will be returning to the Anaheim Convention Center on Friday, October 22 through Saturday, October 23! Just as in years past, BlizzCon 2010 will feature an exciting mix of discussion panels, tournaments, hands-on gameplay, contests, and much more. When and where is BlizzCon 2010?

Purchasing tickets requires a Battle.net account. If you do not have a Battle.net account and wish to create one in advance of ticket sales, click here to get started. Prior to ticket sales beginning, you may wish to visit Battle.net Account Management to ensure your contact and stored credit-card information are up-to-date, and to verify your e-mail address.

What do I get for the cost of a ticket?
Each BlizzCon ticket includes a BlizzCon badge that grants access to BlizzCon. Attendees will also get a BlizzCon goody bag containing exclusive swag. More details on the contents of the goody bag will be revealed in the weeks ahead. Please be aware that transportation and hotel accommodations are not included with the cost of any BlizzCon ticket.

Is BlizzCon open to attendees outside the United States and Canada?
Yes. International attendees will be able to purchase tickets at the same time as domestic attendees. We have not yet announced when tickets for BlizzCon 2010 will go on sale, so please keep an eye on BlizzCon.com for more information.

What should I do about hotel accommodations and transportation?
Several hotels within walking distance of the Anaheim Convention Center will be providing guest rooms at a special BlizzCon group rates. Transportation to the event will be up to you. Please check the Travel Info page on www.blizzcon.com in the coming weeks for further information on nearby hotels and how to take advantage of the special group rates, as well as information about car rentals and shuttle buses from nearby airports. If you plan to drive to the Convention Center for the event, we suggest you carpool.  Please visit our parking page in the coming weeks more information.

Is there an age restriction for attendees?
Some content at BlizzCon may not be suitable for children. Anyone under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Absolutely no children 5 years of age or under will be permitted to enter. Tickets are required for all attendees, and the child ticket price is the same as the adult ticket price. Please note that no strollers will be allowed in the Anaheim Convention Center.

Whom should I contact if I have a question about accommodations for people with disabilities at BlizzCon?
If you are disabled and require special services, please contact blizzconsupport@blizzard.com to identify your special needs. All requests should be received by August 20, 2010 in order to ensure the availability of services.  Please include your contact information in your email.

I am planning on carrying my costume and some water in a backpack to BlizzCon. Is this OK?
Any bags being brought into BlizzCon should be smaller than 20 inches x 10 inches (roughly the size of two sheets of paper side by side). Anyone with a bag larger than this may be refused entry. If you are taking part in the costume competition and require a larger bag to store your costume, please check with the information kiosk in the lobby on your arrival. Blizzard Entertainment reserves the right to search any bags being brought into BlizzCon and to refuse entry if they are found to contain prohibited items (see below).

Will there be a place to store a costume and/or bag at any time during the event?
There will be no general storage space available to show attendees. Please leave anything you don’t wish to carry in your car, at home, or at your hotel. If you are taking part in the costume competition, please check with the information kiosk in the lobby on your arrival.

Can I bring my video camera/camcorder into BlizzCon?
Video cameras are permitted for use in the BlizzCon exhibit halls. However, you may not record gameplay from any of the screens (with the exception of tournament gameplay), and recording the BlizzCon closing concert on Saturday evening is strictly prohibited.

Can I bring my iPod?
MP3 players are permitted in the BlizzCon exhibit halls. However, personal equipment may not be connected to any computer for any reason at any time.

Can I bring my computer/laptop to BlizzCon?
General attendees will not be able to bring desktop computers, laptops, and electronic storage devices into the BlizzCon exhibit halls. Please leave these devices in your car, at home, or at your hotel. Members of the media who have a press badge will be able to bring a laptop onto the show floor.

I’m planning on wearing a costume to BlizzCon. Are there any items I cannot bring into the event?
Costumes may not include or otherwise utilize any edged weapons (such as knives, daggers, and swords); actual clubs, maces, or other crushing weapons; or projectile weapons of any kind, even if unloaded or nonfunctional (this includes firearms of any kind including air guns, longbows, crossbows, etc.). Acceptable costume weapon props are limited to air-filled or soft plastic melee weapons (swords, daggers, maces, clubs, etc.) and wooden staves that are not shod with metal.

Is there anything else that I can’t bring?
Attendees will not be allowed to bring weapons, alcohol, fireworks, glass bottles, cans, or large containers into BlizzCon. **Any attendee found to have violated the prohibited items list may be removed from BlizzCon.**

Will BlizzCon be broadcast on TV or available to view on the Internet this year?
We haven’t announced any plans for television or Internet broadcasts of BlizzCon 2010. Keep an eye on the official BlizzCon website, www.blizzcon.com, for any event-related announcements as the convention draws closer.

PvP

The amount of Honor awarded for an Honorable Kill has been increased by 100% for characters of all levels. Since all Honor is awarded based on a conversion rate from Honorable Kills, this change will effectively double the amount of Honor received from Honorable Kills, or for completing Battleground and Wintergrasp objectives; however, the amount of experience gained from completing Battleground objectives and the amount of Honor rewarded for completing each Wintergrasp quest remain unchanged.

Battlegrounds

The Random Battleground system has been added! Similar to the Random Dungeon system in the Dungeon Finder, players can now queue for a random Battleground.

The Random Battleground option can be found in the Battleground tab of the PvP frame and is only available for level 80 characters at this time.

If this option is selected, players may not queue for specific Battlegrounds and a random Battleground simultaneously.
Similar to the Random Dungeon system, players will not know for which Battleground they are chosen when selected from the queue until they zone into the Battleground.

The Random Battleground option will only allow a group size of 5 players to queue together.
Bonus rewards will be offered for choosing the Random Battleground option.

Winning a Battleground using the Random Battleground option for the first time in a day will award players with 30 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency and 25 Arena points.
Winning additional Battlegrounds using the Random Battleground option after the first random win will award players with 15 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.
Losing a Battleground using the Random Battleground option will award players with 5 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.

Daily Battleground quests have been removed in place of the Random Battleground option.
Battlegrounds will no longer award Marks of Honor.

Players with existing Marks of Honor can still turn them in to their respective faction’s quest givers, including individual marks for those who may have more marks for one Battleground than another.
Items which previously required Marks of Honor will have their costs adjusted to remove these requirements.

Whenever a Battleground has the holiday bonus active, it will now be referred to as “Call to Arms” in the Battleground tab and Calendar. In addition, Call to Arms Battleground Honor rewards have been changed.

Choosing a specific Battleground with the Call to Arms bonus active will yield the exact same rewards as when choosing the Random Battleground option.

Winning a Call to Arms Battleground for the first time in a day will award players with 30 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency and 25 Arena points.

Additional Call to Arms Battleground victories after the first win for a player that day will award them with 15 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.

Losing a Call to Arms Battleground will award players with 5 Honorable Kills worth of additional Honor currency.
When using the Random Battleground option, players will not receive additional rewards if the Battleground chosen is under the Call to Arms bonuses. In addition, the rewards for the first victory of the day cannot be earned more than once, regardless of whether or not it is obtained from the Random Battleground system or the Call to Arms Battleground.

Wintergrasp

Dungeons & Raids

All weekly quests will now reset during each region’s scheduled maintenance, rather than at a single global time.

Culling of Stratholme

Players may now skip the initial introduction dialog to this dungeon once they have completed it at least once.

Icecrown Citadel

Blood-Queen Lana’thel: Pact of the Darkfallen now applies damage twice as often, but for half the damage. This change will make the removal of the spell a bit more responsive.
Hellscream’s Warsong and Strength of Wrynn now provide their bonuses to player pet health and damage, as well as the absorption amounts of Power Word: Shield and Sacred Shield.

World Event Bosses

Holiday bosses (such as Ahune for the Fire Festival) will now be accessible through the Dungeon Finder.

Players must use the Dungeon Finder or speak to special holiday NPCs in the world to queue up and access these bosses.
Upon accepting a queue for any holiday boss, the party will be ported directly to the necessary area for confronting that boss.
The previous summoning criteria for these bosses have been removed. Players can queue up for and fight each World Event boss as many times as they want for any standard loot that they may drop.

All rare holiday items (such as The Horseman’s Reins) will have a chance of being found in holiday-themed loot troves which will drop once for each player in the party no more than once per day, in the same manner that doing the Random Dungeon daily quest will provide a specific reward the first time it is completed in a day.

Classes: General

Several raid buffs have had their ranges increased to 100 yards, up from 45 yards, to prevent select buffs from repeatedly getting applied and removed during highly mobile encounters. Some buffs, such as paladin auras, totems, shouts and Blood Pact are intentionally meant to have shorter ranges and remain unchanged.

Hunters

Talents

Beast Mastery

Ferocious Inspiration: This ability is now an aura and provides 1/2/3% damage to all party or raid members within 100 yards and boosts the damage of Steady Shot by 3/6/9%.

Pet Talents

Heart of the Phoenix: Cooldown reduced to 8 minutes, down from 10 minutes.

Professions

Runed Orbs: Recipes which require this item have had their material requirements significantly reduced.
Engineering

The Pet Bombling and Lil’ Smoky non-combat pets are no longer Bind-on-Pickup.

Fishing

The “Monsterbelly Appetite” daily fishing quest has changed so it now takes place outside the Violet Hold in Dalaran. The quest still requires a Severed Arm and has been renamed to “Disarmed!”

Inscription

Most recipes that required 2 inks now only require 1.

Mining

Titansteel Bar: Creating this item no longer results in a cooldown. If this ability is on cooldown when the patch is applied, players must wait for the cooldown to expire naturally before it is permanently removed.

Tailoring

Glacial Bag: Creating this item now invokes a 7-day cooldown.
The cooldown and location requirements have been removed from creating Moonshroud, Spellweave and Ebonweave. If any of these abilities are on cooldown when the patch is applied, players must wait for the cooldowns to expire naturally before they are permanently removed.

Quests

Many quests which require vehicles have had their vehicle mechanics updated and improved in the interest of fun.

User Interface

All Alert pop-ups now have new and fresh Alert icons.

Auction House

If the Auction House on a realm is unavailable for any reason, an alert will pop up informing players who attempt to access it.
Players can now Right-Click to place an item in the Auction frame.
Entire stacks of a specific item type can be placed in the Auction frame and several options have been added for choosing how to list auctions.

Stack Size: If a stack of items has been added to the Auction frame, players can select the size of the stack they wish to sell. If an invalid stack size is entered (i.e. a stack of 21 Saronite Ore), the Create Auction button will be grayed out.
Number of Stacks: In addition to selecting the size of a stack, players can select how many stacks of an item they wish to sell (i.e. if a player has a total of 43 Saronite Ore in the Auction frame, they can choose to list 2 stacks of 20, 4 stacks of 10, 8 stacks of 5, 43 stacks of 1, etc. If the number and amount of stacks listed results in a remainder, the left-over items will be placed back in the player’s bags automatically).

Stack Size and Number of Stacks are linked mathematically so that altering the variables of one may automatically calculate the amount of the other (i.e. if a player puts 20 in the Stack Size field and 43 Saronite Ore are in the Auction frame, the Number of Stacks field will change to 2 by default. If a player only wishes to sell one stack of 20 Saronite Ore, the Number of Stacks field can be manually changed to 1).

Price: Players can now choose to input the price of an item Per Stack or Per Item by selecting either option from a pull-down. If Per Item is selected and a player is selling a stack of that item, the Auction House will multiply the selected Per Item price by the amount of that item in the stack. If Per Stack is selected, the player can enter the total price he or she wishes to charge for each stack of that item being listed.

Auction Post Completion Bar: If multiple items or stacks of items are being listed at once by a player, a Posting completion bar will appear showing the total progress of each individual auction being listed once the Create Auction button is selected. The greater the number of individual listings being made in a single press of the Create Auction button, the longer this process will take. Players can still browse the Auction House while the Posting completion bar is in progress, but moving around will interrupt the progress, similar to moving while attempting to create multiple bandages with First Aid. Just as with creating bandages, auctions that were completed prior to the character moving or otherwise canceling the action will successfully be listed.

Dungeon Finder

The Deserter debuff given to players who leave a dungeon prematurely when queuing via the Random Dungeon option has been increased to 30 minutes, up from 15 minutes. The cooldown for using the Random Dungeon option remains 15 minutes.
The Random Dungeon cooldown is no longer displayed as a debuff. Instead, players will see the cooldown time remaining displayed in the Dungeon Finder window when Random Dungeon or Random Heroic Dungeon is selected from the pull-down.

If a player in your party has the Deserter debuff, or is on cooldown from the Random Dungeon option, his or her character name will be displayed in the Dungeon Finder window listed as “On Cooldown,” preventing the group from queuing.
Anyone in a dungeon party can now re-queue their group for a dungeon, as players will still be prompted whether or not to accept their chosen role.

Players who use the Vote Kick option will now be prompted to provide a reason for kicking a party member. This reason will be presented to everyone in the party except for the person voted to be kicked.
When joining as a group, more generous level requirements will be used instead of Random Dungeon level requirements so that players of different levels joining together will be eligible for a greater number of dungeons.

Parties randomly created via the Dungeon Finder will always be arranged in the party interface from top to bottom in the following order: tank, healer, damage, damage, damage.

If a random party is created via the Dungeon Finder and a player cannot roll Need on an item, a reason will now be provided.
Players can no longer roll Need on Frozen Orbs in dungeons under Need Before Greed loot rules. Pass and Greed options will still be available.

There was a birthday celebration yesterday, but not mine nor my daughter’s – the Troll Hunter blog turned 3!

I cannot believe it’s been that long – so many posts, rantings and photos… Not to mention the wonderful people I’ve met, virtually or personally, because of the blog. The comments and emails I get from you make me really happy and willing to keep continuing on with what’s going on in this ol’ troll’s life on Azeroth. Thank you for keeping me company all this time! You’re the best!

Lesson Learned:

The biggest lesson I learned with my first few posts was that you don’t have to be the Hunter expert when you blog, especially when you’ve got a decent amount of readers that don’t really want to know about all the stats on how to play a hunter. It’s also important to ask people for feedback and reach out to your community for their input. I think people respect you more when you admit that you have limits and appreciate them for their opinions and level of expertise. A little humor goes a long way too. Sure, some of the posts are off-topic and have little to no actual hunter tips, but it’s nice to take a break from the usual blogging schedule and present something fun for your readers.

I’ve also learned that if you can’t think of anything to blog about or still aren’t confident in your “hunter” abilities, there’s always an article or some news that you can highlight and add a personal spin to.

Over the past few years I made it a point on The Troll Hunter’s little blog to “never” make the claim of being any type of hunter expert by any means and it seems to have worked out pretty well so far to date. This blog originally started out written entirely in my character’s RP (Role-play) context, but throughout the past few years it’s developed into a mixture of both RP-IC (In-Character) and OOC (Out of Character) content because “not everyone be understandin’ da way us troll’s be talkin’ mon!’

What has been so very sad for me is to see a lot of the very good WoW bloggers over this past year or so either stop blogging all together or they are just quitting Warcraft once and for all. But you know, there have been times to where I also have become extremely bored with the game myself and have just stepped back to take a break for a while so to speak just so it doesn’t get to feeling like the same old daily grind.

On a personal note I’m guilty myself of being pretty bad about neglecting The Troll Hunter’s blog to over these past few months and my only excuse is that I blame it on the ‘lack of creativity’ on my part and the total lack of not enough hours in my day. Or is it the Alzheimer’s setting in? I swear I’ll start going back to posting on a regular basis again just as soon as I figure out where I misplaced my meds!

So, and with a larger jump we are here, today, with 3 years of blog posts. Anyway, it was quite funny to browse through The Troll Hunter’s blog one time yesterday and seeing how many things have changed for me and my little one and I really  hope I continue blogging for another 3 years.

Later this week I will be posting on da troll hunter’s move to a brand new realm and da guild he be runnin’ mon!

Dungeons & Raids
Icecrown Citadel
Frostwing Halls, the final stronghold of the Scourge and their Lich King, has been added.

Halls of Stone
Brann Bronzebeard has been getting into shape and now feels comfortable walking faster when escorted.

The Forge of Souls
The Devourer of Souls will now cast Mirrored Souls less often.
The Spell Reflect ability has been altered on several creatures. It now has a cast time, only has 2 charges, and has a 75% chance of reflecting spells.

The Nexus
Anomalus will now use the Create Rift ability only once, down from 3 times.

The Old Kingdom
Elder Nadox now only gets one Ahn’Kahar Guardian during the encounter.
Jadoga Shadowseeker now only ascends once during the encounter.
Several enemies between the Befouled Terrace and The Desecrated Altar have been removed or had their pathing altered.

Pit of Saron
Players can now zone back into the instance if they are dead while encounters with Krick and Ick or Forgemaster Garfrost are in progress.

Utgarde Pinnacle
Skadi the Ruthless can now be removed from his drake with 3 harpoon strikes, down from 5.
Svala Sorrowgrave now casts Ritual of the Sword 1 time during the encounter, down from 3.

Vault of Archavon
Toravon, the latest boss to join the Vault’s giants and masters of the elements, is now accepting challengers in 10- and 25-player formats.

The Violet Hold
The time between a boss being defeated and a new portal opening has been decreased.

PvP
All healing abilities (including items such as potions) will be decreased in effectiveness by 10% when in Battlegrounds, Arenas, or Wintergrasp.
Arenas
Season 8 has officially begun featuring all-new rewards!

User Interface

• The party leader is now referred to as Guide in chat when a group is formed via the Dungeon Finder.
• Fixed a bug where players with Raid Assist capabilities were unable to perform a Ready Check.
• Fixed a bug where the first couple of tutorials were not displaying upon logging into the game.

Items

• New strength-based melee DPS rings are now available from representatives of the Ashen Verdict.
• Tier-9 Sets: The Aspirant vendors at the Argent Tournament grounds have worked out a deal with merchants in Dalaran so that all item level 232 set pieces will now be available on armor vendors in the city. Set pieces which require trophies will still be available for purchase only from vendors at the Argent Tournament grounds.
• Tier-10 Balance Druid 4-Piece Bonus: Fixed a bug to allow for this bonus to properly trigger.
• Tier-10 Elemental Shaman 4-Piece Set Bonus: Redesigned. Successful Lava Burst casts now increase the duration of Flame Shock on the target by 6 seconds.
• Tier-10 Tank Sets: The gloves and chest pieces for warrior, death knight, and paladin tanks have had their stats adjusted slightly to provide additional armor value.
• Tier-10 Warlock 4-Piece Bonus: This bonus should now correctly be applied to the warlock’s pet.

Technical Support

• The cvar ‘processAffinityMask’ controls which CPU cores are available for the World of Warcraft client to use. Previously the game client was limited to 2 cores as a default which players could override in the configuration file. In the past this provided a performance boost on some CPUs and operating systems. We have identified several systems that are experiencing severe performance issues with this restriction and have removed it. Players who would like to restore the old behavior can do so by updating the Config.WTF file by adding: SET processAffinityMask “3″.

Greetins’ Mon! How all joo’s be doing dis’ fine week? Joo be’s enjoying da new raiding system and all dat fancy new gear dat joo can be a getting? Dis Troll Hunter be lovin’ it mon and be styling now in all his t-9 and t-10 gear. Dem groups for de’ most part have turned out pretty good so far, wit’ just a few bad ones, but dem’ be few and far between, so I be very happy wit’ da new system and da sweet gear rewards!

Quick funny story for joo’s. I be in Heroic Pit of Saron last night wit a good group ‘cept for our healer. Dis guy be t’inking dat nobody else but our tank needed to be healed and he be doing dis’ all da way up to the boss Ick. Well da Troll Hunter be getting really pissed man at da lack of heals, so I be fixing his healing butt by casting a Misdirection on him followed by a nice explosive shot. Joo know, I don’t t’ink I ever be seeing a healer run so fast in all my life. It be even funnier when Ick one shotted his squishiness too. Da lesson to be learned here is not to be ignore your group when dey’ need healing, and especially not your hunter mon, he can mess joo up bad!

So about dem achievements I be ranting about. Well I be really racking dem up now finally! Not only have I completely all dem Northrend Dungeon achievements both on regular and on Heroic, but I be really, really bored on Sunday night and went fishing in Dalaran at dat’ fancy fountain and be picking up The Coin Master, which be taking about 3 hours to get done, but joo be getting a nice letter and a real fancy soulbound coin dat’ joo can toss around too! I also be picking up the Northrend Angler achievement and will be headed back to dem Outlands later dis’ evening to be getting the Outland Angler one too! Ya mon, sometimes I be getting just a bit bored.

So now achievement wise I be picking up on da average of about 5 per day and almost be up to 4600 points. Dat’ might not be a big deal to some peoples, but da troll hunter be t’inking dat he has come a long way and be very proud of his accomplishments so far. Oh I also be picking up dat “the patient’ title to last week for running dungeons wit’ 50 different players. Dat be the Looking for Many achievement.

Good t’ings be happenin’ dis past week too! Not only did I finally find a very good RP (Role-Play) guild dat’ be very nice to me and also be holding RP events, but I be coming across a very nice Orc lady dat not only be a great role player on my server, but she also be having a great website called The Cheshire Cats, which be havin’ good stories and good YouTube videos. I be suggestion dat’ joo’s go visit her when joo get da’ chance. Tell Kat dat’ Da Troll Hunter be sending joo!

And before I be going I wanted to be reminding joo dat The Crimson Halls of the Icecrown Citadel unlock this week. (Actually as of 1/19/10) So joo’s dat be fighting in IceCrown can now be facing The Blood Princes and Blood Queen Lana’thel. And take it from da troll hunter who be failing many times on da’ test realm, dat Blood Queen be no cakewalk at all, so be prepared to get your buts kicked a few times over again.

So I be leaving joo’s right now and be going back to da Citadel right now to farm some more trash again tonight for some more da Ashen Verdict. I hope joo be enjoying da new mini-content patch today and dat’ joo’s be getting all your achievements done too!
